Where God Wants Me to Be

The other day my friend graciously told me, “You are exactly where God wants you to be.”

This made me stop and wonder. I am where I am supposed to be because God has put me here. Yes, I’m on a journey and I’m headed somewhere, but right now, in this moment, I’m HERE.

I just let that sink in. Im the type of person who knows my potential. I know through the grace of God I am capable of amazing things. Through the Eucharist, I have the power of Jesus Christ literally IN me and working THROUGH me. It is not by my doing, but by His, that I am able to accomplish great things.

I am also the type of person, knowing my potential, fears I do not live up to that potential. I always press myself, “what MORE can I do right now?” feeling that what I’m doing currently is not enough.

But it is. I am exactly where God wants me to be in this moment.

This is no excuse to not work hard or challenge myself or go 100%. But in my spiritual path, I don’t have to worry if I’m as good as I’m supposed to be tomorrow, today. In this moment, I am exactly where God wants me to be. Tomorrow is a different story, and tomorrow is in the hands of God.

Today, I am only supposed to be focused on how I can love God and serve my brethren to my greatest capacity. I should not compare my capacity of today to my capacity of tomorrow, because I don’t need to. Today, I am as good enough for God as I’m supposed to be, because He’s allowed it. I can only do good things through His grace. And this much grace He’s given me today, so therefore I should use it. I don’t need to worry about tomorrow‘s grace, because when I go to bed and wake up in the morning and do my tasks throughout the day with an attitude towards the Lord, it will come.

So let’s not worry about our tomorrows. Let’s not question if we’re good enough today. We are! God has placed us here. He has made us as we are, in His image and likeness! We don’t need to feel bad or ashamed or guilty because today we’re not as good as we will be tomorrow. We live in an impatient world where we can’t wait for the school/work day to be over. We go to bed dreaming about what we’ll eat for breakfast in the next morning. We drown out our weekdays thirsting for the weekend, and how short it is! No, let’s wait for tomorrow. Let’s be patient for tomorrow‘s grace. For it will come. And when it comes, we will be ready for it, because God has led us to exactly where we need to be.
